Stephen F. Wood, Jr.

Mr. Wood, Jr. is an attorney with the law firm of Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, PC focusing on software licensing and health IT matters, HIPAA compliance and other information security work, and general corporate work for emerging companies. Steve began his career as a real estate lender with NCNB (now Bank of America) in Charlotte before returning to Nashville to prepare to attend Vanderbilt Law School. While in law school, he conceived and designed a software system specifically for commercial mortgage servicers. Upon graduation he practiced law with a Nashville firm before interrupting his law career to devote full time as CEO of Synergy Software. Synergy was sold to a NYSE company in 1999, and Steve stayed on for two years as division executive. From 2002 to 2007 he was a full-time faculty member at Vanderbilt Law School teaching practical business transactional skills to third-year students. Mr. Wood simultaneously held a secondary appointment at Vanderbilt’s Owen Graduate School of Management, teaching entrepreneurship. Mr. Wood received his BS in Business Economics with high distinction from Indiana University School of Business. He earned his J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School where he was associate editor of the Vanderbilt Law Review. Mr. Wood joined the Board in 2011.
