Mr. Smith joined the organization as a member of its board of directors in 2011. In December 2014, he was asked to join the organization in a full-time capacity as its Chief Operating and Finance Officer. In July 2017, Mr. Smith took the lead of the organization serving as its President. Prior to joining HutsonWood full-time, he was the Chief Financial Officer of Blakeford, Inc., a not-for-profit senior living company operating a Continuing Care Retirement Community and home care company located in Nashville, Tennessee. In 2007, he participated in the organization and start-up of Blakeford at Home, a successful subsidiary of Blakeford, Inc. From 1999 to 2007, Mr. Smith was CEO of Medical Accounts Managements, a healthcare benefits management and consulting firm. Mr. Smith began his career in 1986 with a local commercial real estate development and property management company. In 1994, he joined Colliers Turley Martin (formerly Frank L. Smith Company) and became Vice President of its Nashville operations. From 1992 to 1994 he was a Senior Accountant for the Nashville office of KPMG LLP. Mr. Smith is a graduate of Tulane University in New Orleans and holds the Certified Aging Services Professional designation.
